Well, it can happen with a lot of people and can get problematic that’s why I am sharing some very effective ways that you can use to control your excessive hunger and eventually your weight too.
Eat When Hungry
Whenever you are feeling hungry, eat as soon as possible as you might get ill or irritated if you don’t do so. Unfortunately, a lot of us aren’t good at knowing when we are hungry until it’s too late. Planning meals in an interval of 4 hours can help you in a great way to avoid overeating.
Would You Like to Eat an Apple?
Sometimes our cravings have nothing to do with hunger. You must have noticed that you feel like eating a cookie after a meal but don’t feel like having a nutritious item like apple post-meal.
Whenever you feel like having a snack, ask yourself if you want to eat an apple and you might find that you’re not that hungry as you thought yourself to be.
How about a Glass of Water before your Meal?
If you drink a glass of water before your meal, it can be a lot easier for you to control your hunger and your rushing into food.
Establish a Connection with your Food
Before starting your meal, just try to think where the food is coming from and what are its ingredients. This can help you to connect with what you are eating and be more mindful of it.
The First Few Bites are Critical
Pay special attention to the first few bites you fill your mouth with. If you try to chew slowly the initial bites, it will not only delay overeating but will also help you to enjoy the flavour of the food at its peak.
Engage all your 5 Senses
This one just lets you savor your meal a lot more. Try to feel its smell, what it reminds you of, and immerse yourself in the bliss of taste. The flavor, the texture, the spices, Man, isn’t your mouth watering already! Again the meal will be more enjoyable and you will feel full much more easily.
Get Rid of Distractions
While eating, try to stay away from technology as much as you can. It’s a bit hard to grasp the message your body is trying to give you digital distractions. Eating in a good environment and focusing on the task at hand is vital if you want to eat intuitively.
A Bit of This A Bit of That
Your meal should be a combination of everything i.e. carbohydrates, protein, fats as it will satiate you easily and for a long time. Veggies and grains provide shorter-term energy while the protein and fats are vital for long term boost.
Have you heard about a Time Out During a Meal?
It’s important to set your pace while eating and for this, you need to take a break during a meal. Deep breathing and a little bit of water can go a long way in helping you to check how full you are.
The Post-Meal Assessment
After getting done with your meal, if you don’t feel satisfied physically, don’t be too hard on yourself and get some more food. Just have faith that as long as you are fulfilling your body’s requirements, you’re not overeating.
Meditation to Avoid Overeating
Sometimes unfortunately eating is not only about hunger but stress. If you are stressed out you are likely to eat more than usual and unhealthy food. By exercising regularly, meditating and spending amazing time with family you can avoid overeating effectively.
Don’t Be Too Hard on Yourself
If you place a restriction on a particular food item more than you should then you are likely to overindulge in them later on. By not placing excessive limits on eating something, you crave less and can control yourself naturally.
Enjoy your food as much as you want to but remember to stay disciplined. Exercise, meditate, eat healthy and love yourself.
